Song Of The Son
From The Manger To The Mansion
On a hot summer day in Tucson, Arizona, July of the year 2000; Bob and Rena set out to write what they thought would be a Christmas production. Bob received the tunes, and Rena, the words. But as psalmists who bear a message from God, all the songs they write are Scripturally based. Since they couldn't find the word “Christmas” anywhere in the Bible, they thought they would just write about His first coming.
Just His first coming? Impossible! God could not leave it alone: the story unfinished, the song not fully sung – His work not fully done. When Jesus left this earth, He left His Holy Spirit here with us, to comfort, teach, and guide us. But He promised He would come again and take His children home with Him to heaven.
The theme of His second coming emerged immediately, with such glory and power, tenderness and love; there was no way they could write only of His first coming and ignore the second. Now THEY could not leave that story alone! Bob and Rena were definitely on a very exciting journey.
They wrote their first take on the production in three weeks. It was thirteen songs, and they felt like they were in revival the whole time. It was so powerful they wanted to share it with the whole world! But it wasn't God's time. He had spoken to Rena in a dream, that this psalmist ministry would not be released until there was a “larger audience,” meaning hearts would be open, that is, broken.
They laid the production down for seventeen years, bringing them to the year 2017. God was calling them to come together again and complete the production. Again, they were in revival.
For clearly the whole world is more broken than ever. Their prayer is that God will use this production to bring comfort, hope, healing, and heaven to many.
